Bronze Award Expedition Process
- full day at school training
- a half day in Epping Forest practicing navigation
- a Practice Expedition
- a Qualifying Expedition
- a Presentation (usually written or video)
Gold Award Expedition Process
- a preliminary weekend expedition (for those who haven’t done Bronze)
- a half day training course (for those who haven’t done Bronze)
- a full day training course at a Conference Centre
- a Practice Expedition in Year 12
- a Qualifying Expedition in Year 13
- a Presentation (written, oral or video)
The Costs Involved
Bronze Award
At Bronze Level charges via WisePay are made with dates due as follows:
a) On Enrolment (in June Year 9)
b) For the Practice Expedition (in October Year 10)
c) For the Qualifying Expedition (in November Year 10)
Gold Award
At Gold Level charges via WisePay are made with dates due as follows:
a) On Enrolment
b) For the Expedition training (in October Year 12)
c) For the Practice Expedition (in November Year 12)
d) For the Navigation Practice (in October Year 13)
c) For the Qualifying Expedition (in November Year 13)
School Expedition Kit
The school can loan you most of the specialist items for your expedition (but not sleeping bag). A £40 deposit (by cheque payable to Richard Hale School) must be handed in when the kit is collected. This deposit is returned as long as you return the items clean, dry, undamaged and on the specified day
