Donations

We are always delighted to receive donations and have tried to make it as easy as possible for you to give as much as you wish and to the projects that are important to you.

Instead of continually asking supporters and friends for financial help, we will focus our fundraising efforts into major fundraising campaigns.  All donations will be gratefully received and acknowledged!

It is also worth bearing in mind that the Richard Hale School Development Fund is a registered charity so the value of your donation can be increased at no extra cost to you, while also reducing your income tax liabilities.   Our Registered Charity Number is EW06596.

Gift Aiding your donation will also increase the amount that the school receives at no extra cost to you.  For more information, please contact our Administrator, Sue Homan on 01992 583441.

Some ways in which you could support us include:

A one-off payment – Donations can be made by cash or cheque (payable to Richard Hale Charitable Trust). Please send payments to Development Officer, Richard Hale School, Hale Road, Hertford, Hertfordshire. SG13 8EN.

Regular giving – Regular donations can be made by standing order on an annual, quarterly or monthly basis, according to your wishes.  Please click on the Standing Order Form at the top of this page.

Donate shares – This is one of the most tax-efficient ways of making a contribution to Richard Hale School. Donated shares are not liable for Capital Gains Tax and a donor can also claim the market value of donated shares against their income tax liabilities.

Payroll Giving – If you would like to make a donation directly from your salary, please contact your employer to find out whether they operate a payroll giving scheme. Under these schemes, donations are automatically deducted from an employee’s gross salary before tax is paid. Employers will sometimes match employees’ donations.

Transfer of Assets – The transfer of assets (property, works of art etc.) to Richard Hale School does not incur Capital Gains Tax or Inheritance Tax.

Make a Bequest – Including Richard Hale School in your Will is a very tax-efficient way of donating as it is free from Inheritance Tax.  If you have already made your Will, you can easily amend this by filling in the Codicil Form at the top of this page.   There are several types of bequest that can be made.  These include:

–                  A pecuniary legacy which allows you to leave a specific sum of money,

–                  A residuary legacy is the gift of the remainder of your estate, or a percentage, after all other gifts to friends and family have been made, and bills settled,

–                  A conditional legacy allows your estate to be left to other named beneficiaries or charities, should none of your named dependents survive you,

–                  A specific legacy allows you to make a bequest in the form of shares, property or other valuables which may be kept or sold by the beneficiary.

If you are interested in making a new bequest, please complete the Legacy Pledge Form at the top of this page.

Making a Will is an important step so please consider seeking professional independent legal advice before proceeding.
